Server Upgrades!!!

Good news for shared hostees – servers have been upgraded with more RAM. What does this mean? Well, you should have noticed a little better load time in the past 3 months and no downtimes at all.

Uptime is a huge thing for anyone with a website. Frankly, if my site is up… I am probably going to be on the issue immediately because I know you are down too. It is important as Host Solutions grows that you do not feel its growing pains.

However, with this news, I have made sure that the processes have been limited for shared accounts. Which means, if someone uses way too many data resources (example: like MySQL due to traffic or using a lot of scripts that call the database) everyone will no longer be affected.

It is important that you are aware of what you are using for your site. If you are not sure, ask. For those using WordPress, this can sometimes be a problem if you are are using a lot of plugins. If you go over your allotment of resources for the day, your site will be down. Usually dedicated and resellers do not have to worry as much.

Things that will help avoid this issue:
- Use scripts or plugins that are necessary
- De-activate plugins that you only use on occasion
- Make sure your scripts are up to date

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

I finally buckled down to tackle Host Solutions. There are more design quirks, but I am happy with how things are going with modifying. I actually modified from a WordPress template I am planning to put out for free so it is great to know that my WordPress theming is going great.

The design section is the next thing to tackle on the list and putting a twitter handle strictly for Host Solutions. In the meantime, you can ask me any support questions @blondishnet on Twitter and please put the hashtag – #webhosting.

Although pricing for domains have gone up, I have tried to keep packages around the normal rate, but those with older packages from back in the day, you will be needing to upgrade to the new packages so your domain price for your .com, .net, or .org are covered. The upside is that you get more bandwidth and diskspace…so yay! :)

I am looking into trying an affiliate program in the near future. Also, some questions that were asked and to be covered:

Q: Do you have WordPress
A: Yes, Host Solutions has WordPress as a one-click install

Q: Can Host Solutions host BuddyPress and WordPress Mu sites?
A: WordPress Mu, which BuddyPress runs off of requires wildcard domains and yes, Host Solutions offers has this, so you can have your own BuddyPress site.

Q: Are domains free?
A: No. Domains are included in the price if you do not have a domain already – for new domains only.
